Two editions, one launch moment. GTA 6 comes in a Standard Edition at $79.99 and an Ultimate Edition at $99.99 (US) — and the most important thing to know is what the extra $20 does not buy: early access. What the extra $20 doesn't buy
No early access — in either edition. Standard and Ultimate unlock at exactly the same moment: midnight ET on Thursday 19 November 2026 in the US (9pm PT on 18 Nov). Nobody plays early for paying more, and nobody selling "early access" separately is legitimate.
The decision is reversible. Rockstar sells the Ultimate upgrade separately for $20 — exactly the price gap between the editions. Buy Standard now, and if the Ultimate content turns out to be worth it once players have seen it, you can upgrade later for the same total cost as buying Ultimate today. That makes Standard the rational default for anyone who is unsure.
The pre-order bonus has a deadline. The Vintage Vice City Pack is tied to pre-ordering before 20 November 2026. If that pack matters to you, the edition matters less than the timing — either edition pre-ordered in time qualifies; check the wording on your store's listing to be sure.

Get Standard ($79.99). Same game, same unlock moment, same preload. The $20 upgrade exists if you ever change your mind — you lose nothing by waiting.
"I collect everything"

Get Standard now, pre-ordered before 20 Nov so the Vintage Vice City Pack is locked in, and decide on the $20 upgrade after launch-week impressions land.
