Short, dated briefs on the stories moving games and hardware — each one labelled Confirmed when it rests on an official announcement or on-the-record reporting, and Rumour when it doesn't. Newest first. If a story changes, the brief is corrected in place and the change is noted. This hub now sits alongside our GTA 6 trackers: the site covers the whole release calendar, not one game.
God of War Laufey delayed three months, to 20 May 2027
Santa Monica Studio's next God of War — the Faye-centred Laufey — has slipped from 16 February 2027 to Thursday 20 May 2027, a 93-day delay recorded on 5 November. The move takes it out of a stacked February (it would have launched a week before Fable) and into a much quieter May, where it currently stands alone as the month's tentpole PS5 exclusive. No reason beyond the usual polish was attached to the change in the reporting so far. If you were planning February around it, the Release Radar has already been re-sorted with the new date.

Ocarina of Time launches on Switch 2 to a 96 review average
Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake arrived on Switch 2 on Thursday 5 November and immediately became the year's best-reviewed game: Gadgets 360's roundup put its Metacritic average at 96 from 84 reviews. The launch anchored a crowded release week and gave Nintendo a headline exclusive heading into the holidays — helpful timing, given the same day's earnings showed Switch 2 hardware momentum under scrutiny. Reviews are launch-week scores and can drift as more outlets weigh in, but as opening statements go, this is about as strong as they come.
Nintendo: no further Switch 2 price rises under consideration
At Nintendo's 5 November earnings, president Shuntaro Furukawa said the company is "not considering additional changes" to the Switch 2's price — the clearest signal yet that the US sticker stays at $499.99, where it has sat since the 1 September rise from $449.99. Furukawa added that Nintendo can secure sufficient memory supply despite the industry-wide crunch. Nintendo held its full-year Switch 2 hardware forecast at 16.5 million units, even as quarterly profit fell 16% and investors pressed on the post-hike sales slowdown.
Sony profit jumps 45% — while the PS5 Pro sells out across US retail
Sony reported a 45% rise in quarterly operating profit (¥622.3 billion) on 5 November, with PlayStation a bright spot: 2.6 million PS5s sold in the quarter, and the division expected to be a major beneficiary of GTA 6's 19 November launch. The awkward footnote is stock. A retailer survey this week found the PS5 Pro sold out at Amazon, Best Buy, Target, GameStop and PlayStation Direct, with third-party resellers asking $1,400 or more against its $899.99 list price. Standard PS5 models remain widely available at list — it's the Pro that's scarce.
Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold dated 23 February 2027; pre-orders open
Square Enix has locked the Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold expansion for Tuesday 23 February 2027, moved back from its earlier January slot, with pre-orders opening 4 November and a second new job — Zephyr — unveiled alongside the date. That puts a major MMO expansion launch on the exact same day as Fable, which is either confidence or chaos depending on your free time. Evercold is an expansion rather than a standalone release, but at FFXIV's scale it will still be one of February's biggest PC and PS5 events.
Rockstar's 3 November Newswire post brought GTA 6's digital preload forward by two days: downloads now open Tuesday 10 November instead of the 12th — PS5 at midnight local time, Xbox at 00:00 GMT worldwide. Nine days of preload for an install that may need up to 212 GB is genuinely useful if your connection is slow or capped. Boxed code-in-box copies still reach stores on 12 November. Everything else about launch night is unchanged: unlock is midnight per store region on Thursday 19 November. Our preload guide walks through the per-platform steps.
Indie developers say Steam approvals now take weeks, not days
Multiple indie studios say Steam's store approval process has stretched from the stated three-to-five business days into waits of two to three weeks, pushing launches off schedule — in some cases past the point where a small team gets paid before January. Developers point to volume: roughly 4,000 games released on Steam in October alone, nearly half disclosing some use of generative AI. Valve has not confirmed a cause; it told Kotaku a blog post is coming. For players this mostly means quiet release-date slippage among smaller titles — the kind our Release Radar watches for.
Report: The Elder Scrolls VI is titled "Sentinel" — treat as unproven
Gadgets 360 has reported that Bethesda's next Elder Scrolls is officially titled The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel — but its own coverage has carried both "Bethesda has confirmed" and "reportedly" framings, and we can find no Bethesda announcement of a title, let alone a release window. Until Bethesda says it on the record, this sits here as rumour: a plausible-sounding name attached to a game that, by the same reporting, is more than two years from launch. If Bethesda confirms a title or window, this brief will be updated and relabelled the same day.
FromSoftware and Kadokawa announced on 30 October that The Duskbloods — the Switch 2-exclusive multiplayer action game — is moving out of its planned 2026 window into 2027, with no new date set. The delay follows the game's August network test, with the developer citing final adjustments to combat, strategic depth and player expression based on test feedback. It removes one of Switch 2's most unusual exclusives from the holiday calendar and pushes it into a 2027 Nintendo lineup that already includes Pokémon Winds and Waves. It joins the radar as a 2027 window entry.
A brief is marked Confirmed only when it traces to an official announcement, a publisher or platform-holder statement, or named on-the-record reporting. Anything resting on anonymous sources, a single inconsistent report, or leak culture is marked Rumour and written so you can see exactly how thin the ice is. Full standards: About The Unlock Report.
