PC Gaming: GPUs, Steam & GTA 6
PC is where this generation's two biggest open questions live: when does GTA 6 arrive (answer: unannounced), and what is hardware going to cost while AI datacentres drink the world's memory supply. This hub tracks both, plus the release calendar's PC side — with the same rule as everywhere on this site: confirmed and rumour never share a badge.

The memory squeeze
The defining PC story of 2026 isn't a graphics card — it's a spreadsheet. Demand for memory chips from the AI boom has pushed component costs up across the industry: console prices rose on both PlayStation and Xbox this year, and executives now say it out loud. Xbox's Asha Sharma has warned that storage costs could reach more than five times what Xbox paid two years ago by the 2027 holidays, and that memory "will impact pricing, will impact availability" for next-gen hardware. Nintendo, reporting the same week, said it can secure sufficient quantities — for now. Meanwhile Steam is absorbing unprecedented volume: around 4,000 games released in October 2026 alone, nearly half disclosing generative-AI use, with developers reporting store approvals stretching to weeks (see the news hub). Abundance and inflation at the same time — that's the PC market in one sentence.
GTA 6 on PC: unanswered
Rockstar has announced GTA 6 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, launching 19 November 2026. There is no PC date, no system requirements, no price and no Steam page — and every "PC key" on sale anywhere is a scam. A single GamesBeat report (13 Oct 2026, four anonymous sources) floated a possible early-2027 window; it remains unconfirmed and unendorsed by Rockstar. Rockstar's own history (GTA V's PC edition ~18 months after console; RDR2's ~13 months) suggests patience is the realistic plan. Our dedicated tracker watches for the announcement daily and separates fact from rumour line by line.
Next-gen cards: nothing announced
The current flagship lines are NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 50 series and AMD's Radeon RX 9000 (RDNA 4) series. The next generations — RTX 60-series, RDNA 5 — have not been announced by NVIDIA or AMD: no names, no dates, no prices, no specs. Leaker timelines for them have already slipped from 2027 toward 2028, which tells you how soft they are; treat every "leaked benchmark" accordingly. One genuine wrinkle worth watching: AMD is simultaneously building the custom chip inside Xbox's Project Helix (confirmed at GDC 2026, dev hardware from 2027), and reports attributing "RDNA 5" claims to AMD executives circulate without a primary AMD statement behind them — we've seen the claims; we're not printing them as fact.
