PlayStation: PS5 & PS5 Pro
PlayStation is having the strangest kind of good year: profits up sharply, the biggest game launch of the decade 13 days away — and its flagship Pro console sold out across US retail. This hub tracks the PS5 family's state of play: verified prices, stock, the games that matter, and what Sony has (and hasn't) said about what comes next.

The lineup, right now
Three machines, one direction of travel on price: up. Sony raised US prices across the PS5 family on 2 April 2026 — disc PS5 to $649.99, Digital to $599.99, Pro to $899.99 — citing the same memory-chip cost surge squeezing the whole industry. Demand is not the problem: Sony's 5 November earnings showed a 45% quarterly profit rise and 2.6 million PS5s sold in the quarter, with management saying memory supply for projected volume is secured. The problem is the top shelf — the PS5 Pro is the one console in America that's genuinely hard to buy, sold out at every major retailer in this week's stock surveys, with resellers asking $1,400+. Standard PS5s remain widely available at list. One more structural note: Sony has said new PlayStation games will stop shipping on disc from January 2028 — the physical era has a public end date.

The PS6 question
Short version: there is no announced PS6. Sony has not given a successor a name, a date, or a price, and reporting through the autumn has consistently described timing and price as open questions while memory costs stay volatile. Analysts quoted around the 5 November earnings suggested a successor could arrive around late 2028 — that's an outside expectation, not a Sony plan, and we label it accordingly. Anything more specific you see online (specs, prices, "leaked" dates) is rumour. When Sony actually announces something, it will land in our news hub as a confirmed brief — not before.
Is the PS5 Pro worth it at $899.99 — if I can find one?
For GTA 6 specifically, the honest answer is "it depends on your TV and your tolerance for reseller markups." The Pro is Sony's most powerful console and the one most likely to offer enhanced modes in big releases — but Rockstar has not published GTA 6 performance details per model, so any frame-rate claim you see today is speculation. At list price it's a judgement call; at $1,400 from a reseller, it's a hard sell we wouldn't make.
Will there be a GTA 6 PS5 bundle?
None had been announced as of 5 November 2026 in the roundups we checked. If Sony announces one for the holiday season, we'll add it here and in the news hub.
